Exploring Paris: A 3-Day Travel Guide

Paris, the city of love. The city full of architecture, fashion and croissants. There are lots of mixed reviews around Paris but it absolutely blew us away. For a capital city it is so calm and serene. It is also cheaper than I thought it would be which is a plus! I recommend you spend more than 3 days in the city, but it can be done – read my guide to explore the best of the city.

Getting There

From the UK, you can either get cheap flights to Paris or get the Eurostar from St Pancras station in London. It can be more expensive than a flight, but there’s great luggage allowance which you usually pay for with flights. The station in Paris is also right within the city & is easy to travel to your hotel.

Where to Stay

There are lots of different hotels that you can stay in Paris depending on your needs. Me and my boyfriend stayed at Hotel Yllen Eiffel a four star hotel – around £50 minimum spend per person per night. It is the perfect location near a metro and a half an hour walk to the Eiffel Tower. Highly recommend you stay at this hotel, we even got a room upgrade and had the most beautiful view.

Day 1 in Paris

Start your day off at the Louvre. Highly recommend that you book in advance and arrive 30 mins before your time slot as the queues can be quite long – we waited about 20 minutes. You could literally spend hours at the Louvre and it’s easy to get lost there but staff are there to help. You obviously need to see the Mona Lisa but I recommend to choose 2 other areas of the museum to visit for a couple of hours. Tickets to enter the Louvre was around £20 each which was pretty decent for a huge and iconic museum.

Take some time to wander around the city, head to Moulin Rouge to get an epic picture. I was unwell after the Louvre so ended up going back to the hotel but theres so many cute little cafes to stop by for some lunch.

Going on a river cruise on the Seine is a must do when you are in Paris. We chose to do an evening river cruise with a 3 course meal – you can pay to have add on’s like birthday cake & a seat by the window. We booked this through Get Your Guide and was around £45 for a ticket each – drinks cost extra on board and can be quite expensive. There isn’t a running commentary of where you are so keep a look out. However, they time it so you go past the Eiffel Tower when it is sparkling. Grab your coat, get outside and take a picture.

Day 2 in Paris

It’s time for day 2! Have a lie in, get ready and walk to the Eiffel Tower. Grab a coffee on the way – we loved The Coffee Shop. Again, I recommend to book tickets – we did this through the official site about 2 weeks before. You can choose different levels and whether you want to take the stairs or lift (stairs for 1st and 2nd level only. We chose 2nd floor lift access at 12pm which was the perfect slot. I’ll do another post on this, but this was my top 3 things we did in Paris. It was a sunny day and we got the best views of the city – the best bit was that there was a bar on the 2nd level – grab a rose wine or champagne!

Once you are down from the tower head to Le Marais, one of the most gorgeous neighbourhoods in Paris. There are gorgeous gardens, cute boutiques and the oldest food market in the city – Marches de las Enfants. There are iconic sandwiches there – just make sure you check the hours they open which we didn’t and it was shut!

A straight walk down from La Mareis is the Notre Dame, now rebuilt since the fire. It is mesmerising and such a beautiful site. You can go in and visit for free but there is a super long queue but its in a gorgeous area if you just wanted to look at it from outside.

If you are looking for Entertainment, go to the Crazy Horse Cabaret Show. I was in between which show to choose but I heard amazing reviews of this one and it was on Emily in Paris. We chose the ticket with champagne option (£120 per person ish). The show was incredible and we had the most amazing seats at the front. There is nudity so be warned but you soon adjust and the dancing & light show is just absolutely brilliant. It was completely worth the price and experience. They have a host who is really friendly and a guy who dances to split the show up – he might have got my boyfriend on stage! Highly recommend you visit this iconic place!

Day 3 in Paris

It’s your last day in Paris, try not to cry. Before you leave, get the metro to Montmartre. The metro by the way is super easy & cheap – will try to get around doing a post on it. Montmartre, the home of the Sacre Coeur is something I really wanted to do and it didn’t disappoint. The Sacre Coeur offers such gorgeous views of the city.

The village itself it like something out of a fairy tale. The cobbled streets, winding roads, artists in the square I could have stayed there all day. Head to the square to find a plethora of Parisian cafe’s – we had take out pizza and it was so so good. If you are on Pinterest or TikTok, you know the pink restaurant La Maison Rose – that is here too & gorgeous as you would expect.

So it’s time to head back to the station or airport to round off your trip to Paris. It’s a gorgeous city and somewhere where you could easily go back again and again. We are planning to go back for more of a food tour as all the places we wanted to go to we weren’t able to! Have the best time when you go x
